BioAt ninety-nine feet in height and close to four hundred tons, Dubwana Kalakonje was the largest animal ever to walk the earth. He had become an instant international celebrity when his existence was finally revealed by the South African government. Dozens of TV shows told the story of his remarkable life: how he had been discovered in a secret Ugandan laboratory after the fall of Idi Amin Dada, either found in the wild or created by science to be a terror weapon for the crazed dictator, and then spirited away to a secret reserve after the fall of the regime.
